Johan Smitz
Prof Johan Smitz is based at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at the Free University Brussels, Belgium. He graduated as M.D. in 1980 and obtained his specialty in Clinical Pathology/Biochemistry/ Radio-Isotopes. He sub-specialised in Reproductive Medicine and did a PhD in 1993. He became Professor of Endocrine Physiology and Reproductive Medicine in 1997 at VUB. He founded the Follicle Biology (FOBI) Research Laboratory in 1997. Prof Smitz is Invited Professor at Univ Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima (Peru) and Director of the Laboratory for Reproduction and Oncofertility (Lab 406) since 2018. He also holds an Honorary Professor title at the University of San Marcos since 2010. Johan is also Visiting Professor at the 6th Hospital of the Sun Yat Sen University in Guangzhou (China). Prof Smitz has more than 350 registered publications in the NCBI database and is active in several international scientific societies.
